NorthStar offers a day treatment program in a warm and supportive environment.
At this level of care, students reside in their home while attending our full-day treatment program.
The NorthStar day treatment/partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides an effective alternative to residential or inpatient treatment. NorthStar’s PHP offers students school support, five days a week, with a team including a psychiatrist, master-level therapists, and education team, and coach/mentors. Students receive individual, as well as group, therapy including: dialectical behavior (DBT) skills, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), life and social skills, experiential therapies (e.g. music, art, and recreation therapies), mindfulness/yoga, as well as emotional healing and recovery/12-step supports. Parents are active participants in treatment, attending parent group and multi-family group therapy, and individual family therapy.
Students Appropriate for this Level of Care:
- Will have a primary behavioral health diagnosis (mental health and/or substance use) that interferes with daily functioning in school and/or at home.
- May be returning home from a stay in residential/wilderness treatment and would benefit from a transitional treatment program to provide support upon coming home and prior to returning to a mainstream school environment.
- May be transitioning from an inpatient hospital stay and require more clinical and therapeutic structure.
- May currently be unable to attend and/or benefit from school.
